The "Gears" quilt is built from a single pattern piece, an equilateral triangle, cut from width of fabric strips with a 60º ruler. Stack the triangles in vertical rows and sew the rows together, simple as that! No "y" seams, no hand piecing, no multiple mirror images pieces, just chain-pieced straight seams. 

Fabric requirements: 11 solid, blender or tonal fabrics in contrasting but complementary colorways, 3 values of colorways, a light, a medium and a dark, and 2 values of 1 colorway, a light and a dark.
